About Us

Nicholas Properties is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Paul and Maureen Christen. Paul, a graduate of Boston College, began his career selling real estate for his family company, Sapunar Realty. It was the largest independently owned real estate firm in San Francisco, before they were acquired by Coldwell Banker in 2001. Paul pivoted into real estate investing and began his journey into the Construction industry in Atlanta, Georgia.

Maureen, a registered nurse, always had a passion for home design. When she became a stay at home mom to their four children, she enjoyed decorating and making improvements to their family home. The Christens combined Maureen’s creativity with Paul’s real estate investing experience and began buying, renovating, and flipping homes. They were successful in their endeavors, and their business eventually expanded into high-end custom home building.

The Christen’s relocated their family to Austin in 2014 to pursue more opportunities in a growing city. They partnered with their family in Austin, who were also in the luxury home-building business. Together they have built and renovated homes in some of the most exclusive areas of Austin, including Westlake Hills, Rollingwood, and on Lake Austin.

Their approach to home building is not just about creating something attractive, but also about building something that functions well and stands the test of time. They strive to meet the 5-Star Austin Green Building standards that can efficiently handle the Texas heat and humidity, and reduce energy consumption.

Paul and Maureen manage their construction business with honesty and integrity. They recognize the privilege it is to work alongside many talented and hardworking people in the industry. Their long-standing relationships with subcontractors and suppliers ensure their projects take priority when construction crews are in high demand.

For most people their home is their largest investment and a place they want to enjoy with their loved ones.
